Fuel level sensors (RS232 / RS485)
Digital Fuel level sensors, based on RS232 or RS485 interfaces are supported by following devices: Light+, StCAN, Tacho, XtCAN.
I. RS232 based Fuel Level Sensors.
a) Physical connection.
To read FLS sensor based on RS232, calibrate your sensor and connect to the device using Blue and Purple wires on device side.
Note, that RX of device goes to TX of sensor, as well as TX goes to RX.
At once, can be connected only one RS232 based device with baud rate of 19200 bps.
b) Adjustments in Logic Template.
Next step is to configure device to read RS232 interface and send proper parameters.
For that, need to configure Logic template in XDM, instructions are here: Fuel Level Sensor configuration.
c) Displaying in Monitoring platform.
Fuel level sensor measures level and temperature, so both parameters will come to platform. Number of parameters depends on what is selected in the MASKs of Logic template.
Example names are: lls_lvl_add1, lls_temp_add1, lls_lvl_add2, lls_temp_add2.
II. RS485 based Fuel Level Sensors.
a) Physical connection.
To read FLS sensor based on RS485, calibrate your sensor and connect to the device using Green and Green/black wires on device side.
Note, that A of device goes to A of sensor, as well as B goes to B.
At once, can be connected up to 14 RS485 based devices. Connection should be made in parallel way, also should be set different addresses while calibrating FLS. Baud rate must be set to 19200 bps.
b) Adjustments in Logic Template.
Next step is to configure device to read RS485 interface and send proper parameters.
Example names are: lls_lvl_add1, lls_temp_add1, lls_lvl_add14, lls_temp_add14.
III. Supported fuel level sensors.
Manufacturer: Escort, Mechatronics, Omnicomm, RCS, Technoton, some others which support LLS standard.
