Device Configuration via USB
All new FM-500Q and FMS500 devices has capability to update FW and settings via USB. Device is working like additional flash drive.
No additional software is required to make the update.
Note. Only devices with Q4 bootloader supports this functionality. These devices were started manufacturing after 2016.04.27.
Note. FMS500 ONE SOL device does not have USB socket, so configuration should be uploaded using special cables and software. For instructions proceed here.
To update FW and settings you need two separate files, .aes for firmware update and .bin for settings update.
Note. Before downloading settings file, make sure that device is configured properly (APN, direct host and port etc.)
Configuring device using USB
Step 1: Click Devices icon in the horizontal main menu bar. The devices page appears.
Step 2: Click on icon and downloading file of device settings.
Step 3: Click Firmwares icon in the horizontal main menu bar. The firmwares page appears.
Step 4: Click on icon and downloading file of device settings.
Step 5: Connecting device to a PC.
Note. Device must be disconnected from any power source (internal battery as well).
Using USB – mini USB cable (USB – micro USB for FMS500 series) connect device to a computer.
Step 6: New flash drive will appear and PC will ask to format it. Format the flash drive.
Step 7: Copy/paste file of settings.
Note: Insert only one file at once. If you need to upload both, do it separately. After uploading one file, connect device to the power, then disconnect and upload another file.
Step 8: Your device is ready to use, disconnect USB cable and connect the power supply.
Step 9: If it is needed, repeat all procedure with firmware file.
Device locking
Locking of device is optional functionality. Use it only in case of necessity.
Device can be password protected directly from configurator (https://xdm.xgfleet.eu/login ). It will prevent possibility of re-configuring using USB configurational file or SMS commands.
Step 1: Click Devices icon in the horizontal main menu bar. The devices page appears.
Step 2: Click on IMEI of device to get to device settings window.
Step 3: Type the password into password field and save the settings. After the settings are applied, this same password will be used for configuration through USB and as signature for SMS commands.
Note. Password should be combined of any ASCII symbols (up to 15 digits).
Note. When you assign your password, you don’t need to generate signature for SMS commands. Type in your password in front of the message and device will accept your command, f.e.: You assigned password “test”. In this case your command for device restart will look like: test R
Text of SMS commands to password protected devices, should be without "bestpassword" prefix.
Works with FW releases QCP3; CCP3; SCP3 and later.
Device configuration via USB after flash was locked
Step 1: You have to create a .txt file: “key” and write down the preferred password into the file.
Step 2: "key" file must be uploaded to the device every time you want to update settings or firmware via USB.
