Downloading dump using FMS500 device

Raw data file (dump) includes all data, which is presented in a CAN line of particular vehicle.
Below instructions will describe how to download such file from a car using regular FMS500 type of devices: StCAN or Tacho.

Note, that 'dump' file download is available, only when device is physically connected to CAN line of a vehicle.

I. Setup Tachograph receiver application.

 

One of the main parts of CAN bus scanning is windows based application. ‘Xirgo Global tachograph receiver’ application is developed and updated by Xirgo Global team. To receive an installation package, please contact Xirgo Global support.

 

Step 1: Install ‘Xirgo Global tachograph receiver application’ to dedicated PC.

1.1. The application will launch automatically.

II. Configuration in XDM.

 

To get CAN bus data to the tachograph receiver application You must configure the device in XDM by setting up the server ID and applying logic template [configuration].

Step 1: Setting up server ID in the device settings.

 

1.1- In the Tachograph application select copy server settings.

1.2- Go to the device settings in XDM and paste from clipboard to: "Tacho: Card authentication server" and "Tacho: Data files server".  Save the settings by selecting Update.

Step 2: Apply logic template. 

New logic template must be applied so that CAN data could be sent to the application.

Note:  After receiving the dump data make sure to restore old settings. 

 

2.1- In the line 5.7.1 F_Can1FunctionSelect select value “CAN DUMP Read (do not select)” when the condition “IN7 - engine on” is active and add another line and choose value “Sleep” when condition “IN7 - engine on” is inactive.

Note:  If the device is connected to CAN 2 then do the following it the 5.7.2 F_Can2FunctionSelect line.

Note:  For best results it is recommended to take the CAN dump data when the vehicles engine is running. 

III. Receiving CAN bus data files.

When all of the steps above are completed the application scans and downloads CAN data file automatically.

  1. In the settings tab please select folder where You want the file to be downloaded.
